SL vs IND: Hardik Pandya rested, Shivam Dubey gets a game in third T20I
India’s star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been rested for the third T20I against Sri Lanka at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, July 30. Sri Lanka captain Charith Asalanka won the toss and decided to bat first. India made three changes to their team as Pandya was rested for Shivam Dube.
In two T20Is so far, Pandya has scored 9 (10) and 22* (9) with the bat and registered figures of 0/41 and 2/23 (2 overs) with the ball. The all-rounder had an outstanding run in the 2024 World T20 scoring 144 runs in six innings with both bat and ball at an average of 48 and a strike rate of 151.57 and registering a half-century.
With the ball, the right-handed seamer has taken 11 wickets from eight innings at an average of 17.36 and an economy of 7.64. He will be replaced by Dube who won the Man of the Match award for his 26 (12) and 2/25 (4 overs) in the last T20 against Zimbabwe.
Earlier, the 31-year-old scored just 133 runs in eight innings at an average of 22.16 and a strike rate of 114.65 in the 2024 T20 World Cup. With the ball he turned his hands for just one over and conceded 11 runs.
Sundar and Khalil are also playing the first game of the series
Apart from him, Washington Sundar, Khalil Ahmed have also been given their first chance in the series as Rishabh Pant, Akshar Patel and Arshdeep Singh have been rested.
