Fridgescaping: Fridgescaping takes over social media; Why people are transforming their fridges into works of art | World News
What is Freescaping??
Freescaping involves decorating your interior Refrigerator As if it were any other room in your house. People are arranging produce like asparagus bouquets in vases and using interesting storage containers like pink glass pitchers and antique ceramic butter dishes.
Dividing opinion is a trend
The trend has polarized audiences. Some people love the idea of a beautifully curated fridge, while others think it’s a bit much.
Freezescaping is not an entirely new concept. Cathy Perdue, a retired designer, first coined the term in a 2011 blog post. Her approach focused on making everyday food items beautifully organized and beautiful. However, the friezescapes seen on TikTok often resemble much more elaborate, complex Christmas displays.
Why freezescaping is catching on
Besides just looking good, friezescaping has some practical benefits. By incorporating food into the decor — such as asparagus in a mason jar or berries in a porcelain basket — friezescapers make their food more visible and accessible. This helps reduce food waste by preventing forgotten items from going bad.
Freescaping can make cooking more exciting. Lynzi Judish, a popular fridge scaper, shared on TikTok that decorating her fridge has made her and her husband more creative with their food. “Having so many beautiful things in the fridge has led us to be more creative with food,” she said.
Additionally, freezescaping helps with cleanliness. The process usually begins with a deep cleaning of the fridge, and regular grooming encourages ongoing cleaning. “Since the refrigerator is always clean, all I have to do is wipe down the shelves,” Judish explained.
